Webelos Woods

October 20-22nd will be this year's Webelos Woods. The cost will be $10 per Scout (plus food cost). Scouters and parents will be free. They are returning to the campsite rotations this year. Troop 159 is planning an exciting demonstration for the Webelos and Arrow of Light recipients. October 15 @1300, we will meet at the Legion to go out and clean our campsite.

Summer camp parent meeting

Don't miss our SR2 summer camp parent meeting, June 6, 2017 @ 7:20pm. We will be going over all needed forms, scout equipment, etc. All parents attending summer camp MUST attend in order to complete required forms. A copy of your current YPT training card is also required.  If you still need YPT training or if you have lost your card, please attend the next Roundtable (June 8) to complete this.

2017 Arrowmoon District Camporee

Indiana Jones is the theme for this years camporee. Patrols will take part in events that test their Scouting knowledge, skills, teamwork, and leadership. There will also be an OA Tapout at the Saturday night campfire.

Arrowman Bash 2017

The Bash is a fun weekend of great activities for ALL Boy Scouts that includes shooting, climbing, games, food and much more fun! In addition, as a service to Scouting, the Colonneh lodge is opening up this entire event to ALL Boy Scout Troops & will offer a "trail to First Class" program where Scouts can easily complete many of the requirements for this rank. There will be adult training offered as well....including IOLS!!

Scout Fair

Due to the Garner campout cancellation, we will be attending the Scout Fair in Houston on Saturday. The fair hours are 10:00 am - 3:00pm. We will meet at the Legion at 7:45 am Saturday and leave at 8:00 am. Scouts wear class A uniforms, bring water, sack lunch (not sure if food is available), and some cash (fair is free, but there is a shop to buy things). We will return to the Legion by 5:00 pm-5:30. Upcoming Merit Badge Events

Since the boys enjoyed it so much they voted to once again this year attend the Josey Merit Badge Campout that will be held April 10-12 this year.  Since that decision our Arrowmoon District has decided to hold a one-day merit badge event at Texas A&M on April 11.  The Sam Houston merit badge day, which our troop attended last year, will be held on April 25 this year.  Our troop has decided to offer ALL of these to our scouts and will coordinate these events.  Obviously your scout will need to choose between the Josey and Texas A&M merit badge events.  The Josey event will be the only campout offered in April.

I will need to know what Scoutmasters are available for the Josey Campout ASAP!
We will need at least one adult leader at the Texas A&M MBU.  IOLS training, which several scoutmasters in our troop still need in order to be considered fully trained, is PLANNED to be offered that day.

We will need PARENT volunteers to drive scouts to/from Huntsville for the Sam Houston merit badge day - let me know if you can drive.

Josey - April 10-12 in Huntsville:
Cost - $35/scout & $20/adult, includes merit badge classes (1 or 2 depending on badges chosen, plus up to 6 drop-off badges), t-shirt, patch and ALL meals for the weekend

Fee due - Remaining $25 due by March 10

Texas A&M MBU - April 11:

Troop Fundraisers

We have several fundraisers going on right now.

First, the troop will be participating in a profit share night at Freddy's on Tuesday October 28th.  Please support the troop by eating at Freddy's that night between 5 and 9pm.  Please also ask your friends, family, co-workers, etc to eat there that night as well.  Here is a flyer that you can send to others or share on social media.  The funds from this will go to the troop to purchase new equipment.​

We also have two other fundraisers going on that benefit YOU directly.  The entire profit from these sales offset the cost to you for registration fees, which will be due soon, and any activity fees for troop events.  At the last troop meeting the scouts were given order forms for the Butter Braid/Cookie Dough fundraiser we do twice per year and also the forms for the annual Boy Scout Popcorn fundraiser through Trails End.  If your scout wasn't at the last meeting or didn't make it home with the forms tell him to see me for forms.  The forms are also linked below so you can share those with your friends and family.

Important Dates:
  • Butter Braid / Cookie Dough - Orders & money are due NEXT Tuesday October 28, pickup is November 18
  • Popcorn - Orders & money are due November 18 and pickup will be December 16
All checks should be made out to BSA Troop 159.

Remember, these fundraisers are for YOU to reduce the cost of scouting to your family!
